TRAINING PLAN

To make sure all our participants are fully prepared for this rigorous and rewarding cycling tour, we’ve put together a comprehensive 20-week training program. Our training calendar is designed by Mari Holden, Olympic silver medalist and world champion, six-time national champion and former member of the T-Mobile Cycling Team. Mari will also oversee our group of experienced volunteer ride leaders and mentors.

This customized program includes a week by week schedule of mileage and activities, as well as group road rides through San Diego County, indoor cycling classes held each week beginning in June 2008, and a series of cycling seminars. This plan provides an outline of recommended time and distance but can be adjusted to fit your own schedule. The key workouts are the Sunday group rides and indoor cycling classes. The goal of our plan is to prepare you to meet the challenge of cycling 60-100 miles for seven consecutive days.

Each registered rider will also receive a complimentary training manual which includes a calendar of rides, cycling tips and information about the MDC route and profiles.
