CHALLENGED ATHLETE BEACH PARTY – Kellogg Park (La Jolla Shores)
8200 Camino del Oro, La Jolla, CA

12:30 pm – 3:30 pm            “Meet and greet” featuring world-class challenged athletes and an ocean-front picnic
1:30 pm – 3:30 pm              QUALCOMM Million Dollar Challenge arrives at La Jolla Shores Park

Saturday, October 25

PRE-RACE MEETING – Jewish Community Center (JCC)

9:00am-12noon              

  • Leg amputee mobility/gait clinic led by Bob Gailey, PhD, PT
    (Held at La Jolla Country Day High School - Track and Field Facility)
  • Triathlon clinic for wheelchair athletes led by Carlos Moleda
    (Held at the JCC pool)
  • Upper Extremity amputee triathlon clinic led by “one-arm Willie”
    (Held at the JCC pool)

12:00 – 3:30 pm               Triathlon registration in JCC gymnasium
1:30 – 2:30 pm                 Presentation: Introduction of challenged athletes & presentation in JCC theatre

Sunday, October 26

SAN DIEGO TRIATHLON CHALLENGE & TOUR DE COVE – La Jolla Cove

6:00 – 8:00 am                   Zanzibar continental athlete breakfast
6:00 am – 3:30 pm             VIP/sponsor/media hospitality tent open
6:00 am                               Event check-in at La Jolla Cove, tranisition area open & body marking
6:30 am                               Bike repair team on-site (B & L Bike and Sport)
7:00 am                               Introduction of legends, celebrities, challenged athletes
7:30 am                               Tour de Cove registration opens
7:40 am                               National anthem - Samuel Nehemiah
7:50 am                               Final instructions for swim start, athletes assemble on beach
8:00 – 8:30 am                   Swim start – (5 Waves)
8:30 am                               Alternative bike course start time for relay cyclists & handcyclists
8:30 am – 3:30 pm             CAF Village, CAF Store, Silent Auction, Wawanesa Family Fun Zone
9:00 am – 1:30 pm             Tour de Cove
9:30 am                               Wheelies depart on wheelie run course
9:30 am                               QMDC bikers depart the Cove
10:00 am – 4:00 pm           Athlete massage available
10:30am                              Challenged Athletes Kids Run
11:30 am                             Alternative start time for relay runners
2:00 – 3:30 pm                   Tour de Cove party featuring Atomic Groove
3:30 – 5:00 pm                   La Valencia Hotel Awards BBQ (at La Jolla Bridge Club)
5:00 pm                               Course officially closes - Good-byes until 2009
