I always love the camaraderie among athletes and volunteers during the race but this was a different experience. Everyone there seem unified by the cause and was so supportive and encouraging of each other. The volunteers were the same. It was inspiring to watch the challenged athletes compete! But by far the one moment that takes the cake was on the bike ride. We were on a part of the road where you could see the ocean and I rode up alongside a man riding tandem with a girl that was blind and he was describing the view to her to me that was amazing!!! Knowing I was part of that made me proud.

The parade of athletes before the race was incredible. Again, my first race ever so I was very nervous. That calmed my nerves and made me realize WHY I was racing.
