Madelyn White

Southeast Region
Madelyn "Mei Mei" White – Above-knee amputee
6 years old, Atlanta, Georgia

Mei Mei is a sweet and determined six-year-old who was adopted from China at a young age. Born with Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency (PFFD), Mei Mei’s leg was recently amputated above the knee. Mei Mei loves to swim and run and aspires to be like her inspiration, Sarah Reinertsen.

Grant awarded: Ossur Junior Flex Run foot *First time recipient.

Toni Saia

Northeast Region
Toni Saia – Cerebral Palsy
17 years old, Staten Island, New York

Toni Ann Saia was born with Cerebral Palsy which forces her to walk with the aid of a walker. She feels most free when she's competing in sports; and thanks to her participation in the New Jersey Navigators wheelchair sports program for the past six years, she lives a very active lifestyle. She is extremely competitive in archery, track & field and swimming, making her one of the best athletes in the U.S. in her age group.

Sean Mizlo

Midwest Region
Sean Mizlo – Above-knee amputee
40 years old, Orion, Illinois

In 2005, after being hit by a drunk driver, Sean Mizlo had to have his leg amputated above the knee. Thanks to his athletic upbringing, he quickly decided to not feel sorry for himself and to continue to live a positive and active lifestyle. Now his dream is to make the U.S. Paralympic power lifting team, and be the first above-knee speed skater. Handcycling has become his cross-training of choice.

Sean Mizlo

Southwest
Steve Peace – Partial paralysis
36 years old, San Diego, California

Steve Peace is a San Diego, CA native and retired Navy officer. Steve experienced a sudden paralyzing stroke in 2006 and as a result lost mobility on his right side. In 2009, Steve found CAF Operation Rebound and began competing in triathlons. He has since completed two Olympic distance triathlons and the 56-mile bike portion of the San Diego Triathlon Challenge.

Juan Geny

Juan Manuel Geny – Above-knee amputee
34-years-old, Bragado, Argentina

As an avid athlete, Juan Manuel Geny of Argentina thought his life in sports was over after a tragic accident in 1993. Now 17 years later, this 34-year-old is finally feeling whole again thanks to the sport of Triathlon. Juan Manuel has been a fierce competitor, including a third place finish at the 2008 BG triathlon World Championships in Vancouver, all while using crutches. To take his triathlon skills to the next level, Juan Manuel needed to the proper prosthesis.
