Dear Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) Florida Supporters -
Over the past five years, the Challenged Athletes Foundation’s Florida Chapter has played a pivotal roll in facilitatitng the CAF mission throughout Florida and the Southeast region. Raising over a million dollars for CAF, hosting numerous clinics and providing hundreds of grants for people with physical challenges are just a few of the chapters many accomplishments. With heart, passion and dedication, CAF Florida Chapter’s contributions have not only made an impact in the southeast but influenced fundraising strategies and program development around the United States. However, the CAF Florida Chapter will officially close its operations as of November 30th, 2011 and the reins will be turned over to the Challenged Athletes Foundation’s headquarter office in San Diego.
In effect, the CAF Florida Chapter will no longer have direct involvement with Gasparilla, Gate River Run, Muddy Buddy Orlando, St. Anthony's and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium run in 2012. CAF’s involvement in these and other future Florida events will be decided and executed from the corporate offices. Others, such as the "Operation Hooks and Heroes Fishing Tournament" and 3-Gun Shootout are events we may consider on a volunteer basis. We encourage the wonderful group of supporters in Florida and the Southeast region to stay involved with CAF through programs like Race For A Reason, where they can continue to support CAF and our mission within their own communities. Challenged athletes in the regions previously supported by the Florida Chapter will continue to receive support through the CAF headquarter office in San Diego.
