The 620 mile journey down the California coastline from San Francisco to San Diego is a week filled with iconic scenery, epic mileage, and friendship. Every year, this journey delivers a life-changing experience for all participants. This event is unique in the world of cycling; it builds a community of riders with a deep and lasting appreciation for life- and for those who overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges to live life to the fullest. Helping to raise $1 million dollars to help challenged athletes is deeply satisfying. But it is the journey that will change your life forever.
The Mazda Foundation Million Dollar Challenge has earned a reputation as one of the premier cycling events in the country where individuals can use their passion for cycling to make a difference in the lives of others. Thanks to our event participants, sponsors, donors, and volunteers, CAF is able to enable physically challenged athletes to find success in sports - and in life. MDC riders not only change gears, but change lives along the roads of California, and around the world.
- MDC combines world class service from a team of ride support professionals with first-class accommodations, fabulous meals and amenities
- Participation includes a comprehensive 20-week training program, including group rides in select cities such as San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco
- Each rider will be outfitted daily with MDC and CAF-branded cycling apparel including team jerseys, a vest and accessories
- The challenge and reward continues upon arrival in San Diego with tickets to the Celebration of Abilities dinner and the opportunity to ride a final bike stage at CAF's San Diego Triathlon Challenge (SDTC) in La Jolla, CA
