On August 8, athletes, coaches, families, and supporters gathered at Seattle University for the 2026 Össur + CAF Running and Mobility Clinic, a morning dedicated to building skills, sharing experiences, and expanding access to movement through sport. Hosted through the ongoing partnership between CAF and Össur, the clinic brought together individuals with lower limb loss and limb difference for instruction, community connection, and an unforgettable celebration of what’s possible through adaptive sport.
These clinics are designed to do more than teach running technique. They also create opportunities for athletes to learn from experienced coaches, gain confidence using adaptive equipment, connect with others on similar journeys, and experience the power of belonging within a supportive adaptive sports community.
Through the partnership between CAF and Össur, athletes have access to expert coaching, innovative prosthetic technology, grant opportunities, and a nationwide network of support that helps them pursue their goals in sport and everyday life.

Athletes participating in the Seattle clinic received instruction from an experienced team of professionals and adaptive sports coaches, including physical therapist Jen Gruenhagen, Paralympians and endurance athletes Eric McElvenny, and Jamie Brown. Together, they guided participants through stretching, mobility exercises, skill development drills, and running instruction tailored to athletes’ individual abilities and goals.
The clinic format allowed participants to spend meaningful time with coaches in smaller groups, creating opportunities for personalized feedback and coaching throughout the morning. Athletes worked on movement mechanics, balance, endurance, and efficient use of adaptive equipment while learning practical strategies they can take back to their own training environments.
Beyond the technical instruction, participants had the chance to connect with others who understand navigating life and sport with limb loss. Those conversations often become just as valuable as the coaching itself, helping athletes build relationships that extend well beyond the clinic.

One of the most memorable moments of the day centered around native Jed Davidson, who was presented with an Össur Flex-Run running prosthetic through the CAF and Össur grant program, with help from his prosthetist at Cornerstone O&P. Davidson, a husband, father of three, construction business owner, and active outdoor enthusiast, lost his leg in 2025 following a battle with osteosarcoma, a bone cancer. Before his amputation, he enjoyed skiing, waterskiing, CrossFit, and especially running.
His connection to the Seattle Running and Mobility Clinic stretches back even further. Davidson attended this same event in 2025 while still using crutches and before he had received his first prosthesis. Returning one year later to be granted an Össur Flex-Run represented a powerful milestone in his athletic journey. He was especially excited for the opportunity to return to running and keeping up with his children.
Moments like these highlight the importance of access. Specialized sports prostheses can open doors to participation, training opportunities, and experiences that help athletes reconnect with activities they love or discover entirely new possibilities.
The presentation, supported through collaboration between CAF, Össur, and Davidson’s care team at Cornerstone Prosthetics and Orthotics, was met with enthusiasm from participants, coaches, and volunteers alike.

The long-standing relationship between CAF and Össur continues to create opportunities for athletes across the country through grants, clinics, educational programming, and access to cutting-edge prosthetic technology. Together, the organizations work to ensure athletes are not limited by access to equipment or resources as they pursue their goals.
At the Seattle clinic, that partnership was visible throughout every aspect of the day. From the coaching expertise provided on the field to the presentation of adaptive equipment, the event reflected a shared commitment to helping individuals explore movement and sport on their own terms.
The clinic also featured support from CAF and Össur staff, ambassadors, volunteers, families, local prosthetic professionals, and community partners who all played an important role in making the experience possible.

The morning concluded with a group obstacle course, celebration, and shared photo, bringing athletes together to recognize the progress made throughout the clinic and the community formed along the way.
Events like the Össur + CAF Running and Mobility Clinic demonstrate the value of creating spaces where athletes can learn and connect with others who share a passion for sport. Whether participants arrived focused on improving their running mechanics, trying adaptive equipment for the first time, or simply meeting other athletes, each person left with new tools, new connections, and renewed momentum.
Through partnerships like these, CAF continues working toward a future where cost, equipment, and opportunity are never barriers to participation.

Whether you’re seeking a grant, looking for adaptive sports opportunities, or interested in supporting athletes nationwide, CAF offers programs and resources that help individuals pursue active lifestyles and competitive goals.
