Josh's Story

After losing both legs above the knee in Afghanistan in 2009, Josh was introduced to adaptive sled hockey during his rehabilitation and quickly found a renewed sense of purpose. He went on to captain Team USA to gold at the 2014 Sochi Paralympic Games and was honored with the Pat Tillman Award at the ESPYs. Josh has since expanded his athletic pursuits into paratriathlon, Nordic skiing, and cycling, competing at the international level and representing Team USA at the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympics. With the support of organizations like CAF, he continues to compete, coach, and advocate for greater access and inclusion in sport.
