Shawna’s path into adaptive sports began unexpectedly in Chicago. A professional barber for more than 20 years, she met a local Paralympian through their family and stepped in to help the athlete’s organization with a part-time summer role. That experience sparked a lasting commitment to supporting athletes with physical disabilities and the Chicago adaptive sports community.
After years of volunteering with CAF-Idaho during visits to the Gem State, Shawna relocated in 2023 and officially joined the team full-time in spring 2024. Outside of work, she enjoys cycling along the Greenbelt and Idaho’s scenic gravel roads with her boyfriend, an adaptive athlete, staying active in the gym, and relaxing with her dog, Dinosaur, and cat, Mix.
