The San Diego Triathlon Challenge (SDTC) Weekend is about more than a triathlon. From October 23–26, 2025, athletes with physical disabilities, their families, and supporters will gather in La Jolla for days filled with sport, community, and connection. This year’s focus is on creating hands-on experiences where athletes can try new sports and families can enjoy meaningful time together.

The weekend begins on Thursday, October 23, with the CAF Community Social at 5:00 PM in La Jolla. This gathering sets the tone for the days ahead — a space where athletes and families can reconnect, welcome newcomers, and celebrate the community spirit that defines SDTC.

On Friday, October 24, the action moves to La Jolla Shores. The day opens with two adaptive clinics: an Open Water Swim for athletes ages 12 and up from 9:00–11:00 AM and an Adaptive Surf Clinic from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM. These sessions give athletes the chance to build confidence in the ocean, guided by skilled coaches and surrounded by peers who share the same passion for sport.
The afternoon shifts into celebration with a Picnic in the Park and Million Dollar Challenge Ride In from 1:00–3:00 PM at La Jolla Shores Park. Families will enjoy a relaxed gathering by the ocean while cheering on the riders completing their long-distance journey.

Saturday, October 25 is packed with opportunities to learn new skills. At La Jolla Country Day School, the Össur + CAF Running and Mobility Clinic runs from 8:45 AM–12:00 PM, offering specialized coaching for individuals with lower limb loss or limb difference. At the same time, athletes can join a Drop-in Adaptive Pickleball and Wheelchair Tennis session from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM, experiencing two of the fastest-growing adaptive sports in a fun and welcoming setting.
Later in the day, an Adaptive Swim Clinic from 12:00–4:00 PM will provide another chance for athletes to sharpen their skills in the water, supported by coaches and volunteers dedicated to creating safe, inclusive instruction.

The weekend culminates on Sunday, October 26, with the San Diego Triathlon Challenge fueled by Toyota at La Jolla Cove. While the triathlon itself is the highlight, it’s the spirit of the preceding days — the clinics, the family activities, and the community connections — that make this event unforgettable.
