Making Waves: 2025 CAF-Idaho Water Sports Weekend Fueled by Toyota

CAF Staff

From rivers to reservoirs, athletes made a splash at the 2025 CAF-Idaho Water Sports Weekend, held July 10–13 in Boise. Fueled by Toyota and powered by community partners, the event brought together athletes, volunteers, and families for four days of water-filled adventure.

A Weekend Packed with Adventure

This year’s program gave participants even more ways to enjoy Idaho’s waterways. Athletes rotated through small groups to try a variety of activities:

  • Casting for trout on the Boise River with guides from Idaho Angler.
  • Whitewater rafting the Main Payette River, led by Cascade Raft and Kayak.
  • Kayaking and paddle-boarding at Quinn’s Pond, with support from Idaho River Sports.
  • Swimming sessions at the Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse with AquaAbility.
  • Wake surfing on Lucky Peak Reservoir, led by Wake for Warriors coaches Luke Fournier and Tyler Densford, with boat drivers Watts Barden and Idaho Watersports.

Whether it was catching a wave, paddling across calm water, or navigating rapids, athletes discovered new challenges and new joys.

By the Numbers

  • 33 participants
  • 20 volunteers
  • 5 partner organizations

Beyond the sports themselves, two dinners and an afternoon of lawn games at the Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse gave athletes, families, and volunteers the chance to connect and celebrate together.

Building Confidence Through Sport

Each activity was designed to provide hands-on learning in a safe, inclusive environment. Athletes gained new skills and built confidence, with volunteers and coaches offering support every step of the way.

Several athletes also received CAF grants during the weekend to help them continue pursuing water sports long after the event ended—an investment in both their athletic journey and their independence.

Community Impact

The weekend was made possible by the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation, with special thanks to Toyota, Mission43, Cascade Raft and Kayak, Idaho Angler, Wake for Warriors, Idaho River Sports, and AquaAbility. Their commitment ensured that Idaho’s rivers, lakes, and ponds were open to every athlete.

On Instagram, athlete Ally Mauck summed it up best: “LOVED PARTICIPATING IN THIS AMAZING WEEKEND!!!”
