Adaptive Sports Clinics at the 2026 San Diego Triathlon Challenge

CAF Staff

The San Diego Triathlon Challenge (SDTC) Weekend is about more than a triathlon. From October 23–25, 2026, athletes with physical disabilities, their families, and supporters will gather in La Jolla for days filled with sport, community, and connection. Our teams are focused on creating hands-on experiences where athletes can try new sports and families can enjoy meaningful time together.

Registration for SDTC Clinics will open soon.

Friday: Ocean Clinics and Family Celebration

On Friday, October 23, the action starts at La Jolla Shores. The day opens with two adaptive clinics: an Open Water Swim Clinic for athletes ages 12 and up from 9:00–11:30 AM and an Adaptive Surf Clinic from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM, both in 1 hour session times. These sessions give athletes the chance to build confidence in the ocean, guided by skilled coaches and surrounded by peers who share the same passion for sport.

Saturday: Clinics on Land and in the Pool

Saturday, October 24 is packed with opportunities to learn new skills. At La Jolla Country Day School, the Össur + CAF Running and Mobility Clinic runs from 8:45 AM–12:00 PM, offering specialized coaching for individuals with lower limb loss or limb difference. At the same location, athletes can join a Drop-in Adaptive Pickleball session from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM, experiencing one of the fastest-growing adaptive sports in a fun and welcoming setting.

Later in the day, an Adaptive Swim Clinic from 1:00–4:00 PM (one hour sessions) at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center will provide another chance for athletes to sharpen their skills in the water, supported by coaches and volunteers dedicated to creating safe, inclusive instruction.

Sunday: The Signature Event

The weekend culminates on Sunday, October 25, with the San Diego Triathlon Challenge fueled by Toyota at La Jolla Cove. While the triathlon itself is the highlight, it’s the spirit of the preceding days — the clinics, the family activities, and the community connections — that make this event unforgettable.
