Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina

Personal Story: Carson Clough’s life took a dramatic turn in 2019 when a boating accident on Lake Norman resulted in the below-the-knee amputation of his right leg. At the time, he was on the verge of opening The Giddy Goat Coffee Roasters in Charlotte’s Plaza Midwood area. Despite this life-changing event, Carson’s determination and athletic instincts propelled him forward. Carson began his journey as a para-athlete in 2022, participating in his first triathlon just two years after his accident. Since then, he has competed in numerous national and international races, demonstrating remarkable resilience and dedication. His efforts culminated in qualifying for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, where he will represent the United States as the only American para-triathlete in his category. The event will include a half-mile swim, a 12.4 bike ride, and a 3.1-mile run. Beyond his athletic pursuits, Carson is passionate about helping to grow his coffee business, Giddy Coffee. He enjoys surfing worldwide, spending quality time with his family and friends, singing karaoke, and being with his furry companion, Calder.
