Biography:

Dean joined the military in 1988 as a U.S. Army Ranger. He has served in numerous countries throughout the world during his 20 years of military service. On December 7, 2004, while conducting combat operations in Iraq, Dean lost his right arm below the elbow to a grenade explosion.
While rehabilitating at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Dean became motivated support fellow injured service members.

Today, Dean became involved with CAF in August of 2007 when he submitted a grant to CAF for a racing bike. As a member of CAF Operation Rebound, Dean endeavors to inspire other injured troops to pursue their athletic goals.

Dean is the #1 ranked cycling time trialist in the State of Virginia (CAT V) and is a member of the U.S. Paralympic Elite Cycling team. Dean remains on active duty and, despite his amputation, recently completed another combat tour in Iraq. He is passionate about giving back to troops most in need.

“Operation Rebound is not about soldiers like me, but the injured soldiers in the hospital today and the many to come in the future.”-Dean Wagner
