The rugged trails around Boise, Idaho, set the stage for one of the year’s most anticipated gatherings of athletes and community. From June 3–8, 2025, the fifth annual CAF-Idaho Mountain Biking Weekend brought together riders, volunteers, and partners for nearly a week of skill-building, connection, and competition.

The weekend began with a three-day Bike Instructor Certification Program, followed by a two-day open-source adaptive mountain bike build in collaboration with Project Mjolnir. Athletes and coaches worked side by side to design and assemble new equipment, blending innovation with hands-on learning.
This spirit of collaboration carried into the trail sessions, where participants tested skills and techniques before taking on a final race challenge at Bogus Basin.
The scale of the weekend highlighted both the growing popularity of adaptive mountain biking and the strength of the community behind it.

From the Fort Boise Trailhead, riders chose from group rides of varying difficulty, ensuring everyone—from first-time mountain bikers to seasoned racers—had a challenge that matched their ability.
On race day, the excitement was palpable. Paralympian Josh Sweeney and CAF Ambassador Willie Stewart supported riders on the course, adding mentorship and encouragement at every turn.
For many, the event was not only about the ride but also about creating lasting opportunities. CJ Brown received a grant for a bike rack to transport his adaptive mountain bike, while Kevin Peter received a sport expense grant to support his entry in the MOFO race with the National Ability Center in Utah.

Evenings at the Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse brought athletes, families, and volunteers together for community dinners. These gatherings fostered the connections that make CAF-Idaho more than just a program—it’s a family of athletes supporting one another.
The atmosphere was captured by participants on social media:
The Mountain Biking Weekend was made possible by the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation, with support from Mission43, Teton Adaptive, TRAILS, Eaglemount, Oregon Adaptive Sports, Outdoors for All, Ridge to Rivers, DOC, St. Luke’s Sports Medicine, National Ability Center, Reno Adaptive, Wasatch Adaptive Sports, Cycle Learning Center Bike Shop, and Higher Ground. Their commitment ensured every athlete had the equipment, coaching, and resources needed to thrive.
The 2025 Mountain Biking Weekend drew local and national coverage, showcasing the impact of adaptive sports in Idaho:
