On Saturday, August 7, 2021, the sound of cracking bats and cheering fans filled Citizens Bank Park as 20 young athletes supported by the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) stepped onto the field for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Hosted by Toyota, the Tri-state Toyota Dealers Association, and the Philadelphia Phillies, the Toyota Legends Clinic and Wall of Fame Weekend brought together CAF youth and their teammates for a day dedicated to baseball, community, and possibility.
Led by Phillies alumni Gary Matthews and Tommy Greene, the clinic was more than just drills—it was a chance for young athletes with physical challenges to sharpen their skills, learn from baseball legends, and feel the thrill of playing where Major League dreams come true.

CAF Board Member Chad Merriweather and his son Chase, along with his brothers and teammates, joined in the fun, underscoring CAF’s belief that sports have the power to unite families and communities. The energy on the field was contagious as each athlete had a chance to hit, throw, and run bases under the guidance of seasoned pros.
After an exciting day of skills and drills, the young athletes and their families enjoyed the Phillies matchup against the New York Mets. Watching the Phillies take home the win was the perfect ending to a day that celebrated inclusion, teamwork, and the joy of sport.
This clinic is part of a broader CAF initiative to collaborate with major sports organizations and long-standing partners like Toyota to create opportunities for adaptive athletes nationwide. Each event opens doors, builds confidence, and inspires future champions in every community we reach.
Thanks to Toyota and the Philadelphia Phillies, more youth athletes had the chance to experience the magic of baseball. But this is just the beginning. Your support helps CAF provide life-changing clinics, training, and equipment to young athletes with physical challenges.
