The ice came alive in Philadelphia as the Challenged Athletes Foundation teamed up with the Philadelphia Flyers and Toyota for a powerful day of access, opportunity, and connection at the Flyers Sled Hockey Clinic.
Together, these partners created an experience that brought new athletes onto the ice, introduced families to adaptive sport, and reinforced what is possible when community and commitment come together.

As part of the Toyota Military Appreciation initiative, CAF athlete Audry Moore was surprised with a brand-new sled, a moment that reflected both her journey and the impact of adaptive sport.
“Sled hockey saved my life, and the ice is my happy place,” Audry shared. “I came here to encourage kids to play this sport and to get back at it.” Her words captured the heart of a day focused on opening doors for the next generation.
CAF athletes ages 6 to 20 were invited to step onto the ice and experience sled hockey firsthand during the Flyers Coaches Clinic, led by Flyers Alumni Bob Kelly and Team USA Paralympic medalist Rico Roman.
With guidance from Coach Jay Varady, support from the Flyers Warriors veterans, and a special appearance by Gritty, young athletes had the chance to build skills, confidence, and community in a welcoming environment.

For more than a decade, Toyota has been a national partner of the Challenged Athletes Foundation, helping provide adaptive sports equipment, training, and opportunities for athletes with physical disabilities across the country. Through initiatives like Toyota Military Appreciation, Toyota continues to invest in programs that create access to sport, especially for military veterans and young athletes just beginning their journeys.
At this clinic, Toyota’s support went beyond a single grant. It represented a long-term commitment to building pathways, removing barriers, and ensuring that more athletes can discover the confidence and community that come from sport.
Thanks to the Tri-State Toyota Dealers Association and the Philadelphia Flyers, every participant will also attend the Flyers game on November 12, extending the experience beyond the rink and into a full day of celebration and connection.
Moments like these reflect what is possible when sport, partnership, and purpose come together. Through clinics like this, CAF continues to create pathways for athletes with physical disabilities to discover their potential, find their community, and take their next step in sport.
