Team Operation Rebound Rises to the Challenge at IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside

Mariah Wyckoff

Under soaring temperatures and on one of the most demanding courses on the West Coast, Team Operation Rebound took on IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside with determination, purpose, and a shared commitment to the CAF mission.

From the early-morning start to the final miles along the coast, the day tested every athlete both physically and mentally. What carried the team through was more than fitness. It was preparation, community, and the belief that sport should be accessible to all.

A Powerful Showing for the CAF Mission

Together, Team Operation Rebound raised an incredible $63,454.92, surpassing their original $50,000 fundraising goal and creating meaningful impact for athletes with physical challenges. Every dollar raised helps remove barriers to sport, providing access to training, equipment, and opportunities that allow athletes to pursue their goals on their own terms.

This collective achievement was fueled by the dedication of the entire team, along with standout leadership from our top individual fundraisers JeiMar Spell, Richard Wallace, and Andrew Copley. Their efforts helped build momentum and bring new supporters into the CAF community.

Teamwork That Went Beyond the Course

The spirit of teamwork defined the Oceanside weekend. From training miles to fundraising outreach, athletes showed up for one another at every step.

A special thank you goes to our top fundraising team, Team CAF Spartans, who raised an impressive $28,611 in support of athletes with physical challenges. We are also grateful to Team Quality Time, whose commitment contributed more than $10,000 toward the CAF mission. These teams demonstrated how collaboration and shared purpose can lead to extraordinary results.

Rising to the Challenge on Race Day

Race day conditions were intense, with rising temperatures and a course known for its difficulty. Still, 33 CAF athletes took to the start line ready to push through the challenge ahead.

Throughout the swim, bike, and run, athletes leaned on their training and each other. The course became a place where perseverance stood out as much as performance. Every finish was a reminder of what is possible when athletes are supported and welcomed in the sport space.

We are proud to recognize the CAF athletes who competed at IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside: Michael Andreasen, Adrian Broca, Kenta Otawa, Andrew Copley, Takis Ampelas, Francisco Postlethwaite, David Whelan, and Willie Stewart. Their presence on the course reflected the power of access, belonging, and continued opportunity in sport.

Supported Every Step of the Way

This experience would not have been possible without the generous support of our IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside Team CAF sponsors. We are deeply grateful to Tech Sgt Jack Kushner, Athletic Brewing, Quintana Roo, and 100% for standing behind our athletes and helping power their journeys to the start line and beyond.

Their partnership plays a vital role in creating opportunities that extend far beyond race day, strengthening the foundation that allows athletes to continue training, competing, and staying connected to the CAF community.

As the day came to a close, the Oceanside finish line represented more than a completed race. It marked the collective impact of a team that exceeded expectations and strengthened access to sport for athletes with physical challenges.

Team Operation Rebound continues to show what is possible when determination, community, and support come together. We are incredibly proud of this team and grateful for the lasting difference they are making for athletes across the CAF community.
