2025 CAF-Idaho Adaptive Mountain Bike Club Season Recap | Building Community on Idaho’s Trails

Chelsea Day

The CAF-Idaho Adaptive Mountain Bike Club continued its mountain biking–only focus for the 2025 season, giving athletes with physical disabilities the opportunity to build confidence and explore Idaho’s stunning backcountry. From March through October, riders gathered at the Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse and on the Boise trails for a season filled with learning, laughter, and plenty of dust and dirt.

The season began with a “Dust Off Your Bike” beginner clinic led by Coach Mike Jennings at the Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse. New and returning riders got hands-on experience learning essential maintenance skills, from changing a tire and cleaning and lubing the chain to checking brakes and adjusting shocks. By the end of the day, everyone was ready to roll into the season with confidence.

Building Skills and Community

With over 60 participants joining throughout the season, the CAF-Idaho Adaptive Mountain Bike Club became a tight-knit community built on shared passion for adventure. Riders met on the first and third Saturday of each month, guided by expert coaches Mike Jennings, Jet Turner, and Chris Panagos. Each ride drew about ten participants — a mix of seasoned cyclists and newcomers eager to learn.

The club’s inclusive environment encouraged every athlete to push their limits while enjoying the beauty of Idaho’s trails. CAF-Idaho provided nine mountain bikes for those without their own equipment, ensuring that everyone had the chance to experience the thrill of the sport.

The Spirit of CAF-Idaho

Beyond the physical challenges of mountain biking, the season was defined by connection. Athletes supported one another, volunteers cheered them on, and coaches fostered both skill and confidence. The CAF-Idaho Adaptive Mountain Bike Club is part of a larger movement to create access to sport and build lasting community for athletes of all abilities.
