For Dani Aravich, sport has always been about showing up, competing, and finding her place alongside others.
Growing up in Boise, Idaho, she moved from one sport to the next, playing soccer, softball, and running track with a natural drive to improve. What mattered most wasn’t standing out. It was being part of something, contributing to a team, and seeing how far she could go.
That same mindset would eventually carry her to the global stage, across not just one sport, but two.
Today, Dani is a three-time Paralympian, competing in both Summer and Winter Games, a rare path that reflects her adaptability, curiosity, and willingness to step into something new.

Dani’s journey into elite sport didn’t begin with the Paralympics in mind.
At Butler University, she competed as a Division I athlete in cross country and track. The demands of collegiate competition taught her how to manage training, academics, and recovery while staying focused on long-term growth.
When injuries shifted her away from competing full time, she turned her attention to building a career in professional sports. After graduating with a degree in Marketing and Entrepreneurship, she stepped into the industry with the Utah Jazz, gaining experience on the business side of sport.
Still, something was missing.
A conversation with a family friend introduced her to the possibility of Paralympic sport, opening the door to a path she had not explored before.

Dani did not grow up seeing Paralympic sport as an option.
That changed when she became involved in the adaptive sports community, volunteering and training alongside athletes who were just getting started. Being part of that community shifted her perspective and gave new direction to her training.
What began as curiosity turned into commitment.
As she focused on track and field, her progress quickly gained attention. In 2019, she was invited to a development camp for U.S. Para Nordic skiing, an opportunity that introduced her to an entirely different discipline.

Nordic skiing required a new set of skills, from endurance and technical precision to race strategy across long distances.
Dani leaned into the challenge.
What started as a single training camp evolved into a second sport, leading her to train year-round across two different competitive environments. Balancing track and field with biathlon and cross-country skiing demanded flexibility, careful planning, and a willingness to keep learning at every stage.
It also expanded what she believed was possible.
Dani made her Paralympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games in the women’s T47 400-meter race, representing Team USA on the world stage.
Just six months later, she returned to competition at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games, racing in both biathlon and cross-country skiing events.
Competing in both Summer and Winter Paralympic Games within such a short timeframe is rare, requiring a level of versatility and commitment that few athletes pursue.
She has continued to build on that experience, competing internationally and earning a gold medal as part of the mixed relay team at the 2023 World Championships.
Today, she continues to represent Team USA, carrying that same momentum into future competitions, including the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games.

Dani’s impact extends beyond competition.
As co-founder of Culxtured, she is helping reshape how para athletes are represented and covered, focusing on storytelling that reflects the full experience of sport.
She continues to stay connected to the adaptive sports community through mentorship, media work, and advocacy, helping others discover the same sense of possibility she found along the way.
Because for Dani, sport has never been only about results.
It is about access. It is about representation. And it is about creating more entry points for the next athlete to step in and get started.
Dani’s path is a reminder that there isn’t just one way into sport.
Sometimes it begins with trying something new. Sometimes it begins with seeing someone who looks like you doing it first. And sometimes, it begins with a moment that changes how you see what is possible.
However it starts, what matters is having the opportunity to take that first step.
