Idaho might be landlocked, but that didn’t stop 33 adaptive athletes from diving into a thrilling four-day adventure across rivers, reservoirs, and rapids at the CAF-Idaho Water Sports Weekend. From casting lines to catching waves, participants got to experience the best of Idaho’s waterways—proving that outdoor recreation knows no bounds. 

Three Sports, One Unforgettable Weekend 

Athletes were divided into rotating groups of 8–12 and took on a full lineup of adaptive water sports: 

• 🎣 Fly Fishing on the Boise River for native cutthroat trout, guided by Idaho Angler 

• 🌊 Whitewater Rafting on the Main Payette River with Cascade Raft and Kayak 

• 🏄‍♂️ Wake Surfing at Lucky Peak Reservoir, led by Wake for Warriors with boats provided by Redline Recreational Toys 

In the midst of all the action, athletes gathered at the Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse for dinner, lawn games, and plenty of storytelling under the summer sky. 

Athlete Highlights 

From first-time surfers to seasoned anglers, everyone walked away with new skills, new friendships, and plenty of great memories: 

• Killian McCarty got to try a Tetra watercraft, a fully adaptive boat system. 

• Kumaka Jensen shared a video of himself wake surfing, proudly saying: “I figured it out! Such a super fun day!” 

• Heidi Pearson summed it up perfectly: “This weekend was filled with wake surfing, fly fishing, and corn hole competitions!”
