Chairman of Gala, Scott Stackman Announced as Honoree of 2016 ‘A Celebration of Heroes, Heart and Hope,’ June 12 at Renowned Waldorf Astoria
San Diego, CA – March 18, 2016

Showcasing the transformational power of physical fitness and sports, Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF) will be celebrating ‘A Decade of Difference’ at the historic 10-year anniversary New York City Gala.

After 10 years of dedicated leadership, vision and passion, Scott Stackman, who in conjunction with CAF created ‘A Celebration of Heroes, Heart and Hope,’ in 2007, will serve as the evening’s honoree taking place on June 12, 2016 at the Waldorf Astoria New York. From an early age, Scott’s parents taught him the importance and need of giving back. These values drove Scott to bring this iconic event to New York City, which over the last nine years has raised over $11.2 million dollars to help challenged athletes succeed in the game of life.

“It has truly been an honor serving for the past 10 year as the Chairman of ‘A Celebration of Heroes, Heart and Hope,’” said the Managing Director of UBS Private Wealth Management, Scott Stackman. “Through this wonderful event, we have created a warm family, a tight community and a new tradition of philanthropy that can be passed from one generation to the next. I am especially honored to be able to share this journey with the thousands of challenged athletes that we have helped fulfill their dreams through access to sports.”

Throughout the evening, inspirational challenged athletes will re-live their powerful moments of triumph, while recognizing the trailblazers, visionaries and personalities who have truly made “A Decade of Difference.”

“On behalf of Challenged Athletes Foundation and over 11,000 people with physical challenges globally, who have gained the opportunity to pursue an active lifestyle through sports, I would like to express exceptional gratitude to Scott for allowing CAF to continue to fulfill its mission,” remarked CAF CEO Bill Geppert. “As grant requests to CAF continue to grow year-to-year, the demand to raise more funds to increases. Thanks to Scott’s leadership and all the supporters of the gala, we will continue to change lives.”

Money raised at the event will help athletes obtain adaptive sports equipment, which can be costly and is not typically covered by medical insurance. The organization also provides coaching/training, travel and competition expenses through its Access for Athletes Grant Program, which distributed 1,709 grants in April 2015 around the world representing a collective value of $3.5 million. The Challenged Athletes Foundation provides mentoring and free sports clinics for people with physical challenges year-round.
