August 23-38, 2026
Designed for anglers of all abilities, the CAF-Idaho Fly Fishing Basecamp brings together education, adventure, and camaraderie. From August 23-28, 2026, participants will build their skills across Idaho’s world-class waters—learning casting, fly-tying and fish biology—while connecting with a community that shares their love of the outdoors.
Whether you’re new to fly fishing or already experienced, this weeklong Basecamp offers a mix of learning, practice, and time on the water. Led by experienced instructors and supported by local guides, you’ll leave with new techniques, confidence, and friendships forged on the river.
About the CAF-Idaho Fly Fishing Basecamp
Led by experienced fly fishing instructors, the CAF-Idaho Fly Fishing Program offers an immersive introduction to the sport in one of the country’s most beautiful settings.
Participants learn the fundamentals of casting, entomology, and ichthyology while building skills in fly-tying and rowing techniques. The program also includes time on several of Idaho’s renowned rivers and a multi-day guided fishing experience on Idaho’s wild rivers.
Limited to eight participants, the Basecamp ensures personalized instruction and meaningful community connection.
Lodging
During the Boise portion of the program, participants are encouraged to stay at the Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse. While not required, evenings around the firepit often become a highlight of the week, offering a chance to relax, share stories, and build friendships.
Lodging is also provided during the excursion in Riggins, ID for the final days of guided fishing.
