Throughout the month of November, CAF partnered with the Riverdale School to educate students about the capabilities and possibilities of people who have a physical disability.   Students of all ages learned about the science, engineering and use of prosthetics, sports wheelchairs, and about the CAF kids, teens and adults who use them for 97 different adaptive sports.

Through interactive presentations at School Assemblies, our CAF athlete ambassadors, Sarah Reinertsen, Kelly Ray and Brandon Holiday (with his guide dog Dyson) educated students about Challenged Athletes Foundation, our programs, and how we help those in need.

Allison Blitzer, Riverdale School parent said, “Our family has learned so much from the CAF family.  It has been an amazing opportunity for us and our children to think beyond ourselves and to be inspired by the incredible perseverance and determination of the CAF athletes.  We have all grown from our experience with CAF.”

For Riverdale’s Community Action Day on November 18, dozens of CAF athletes who use prosthetics and wheelchairs played dodgeball and basketball with students.   Students got to experience fun play with our athletes, and to truly experience all that people with disabilities are capable of.

Milton Sipp, assistant head of school and head of the Middle School: “Our students were really impressed with the dedication and perseverance that the challenged athletes demonstrated.” The experience was important to Riverdale, he said, because “it is an example of how our humanity connects us and brings us together.”

We are so grateful to the entire Riverdale School community of faculty, parents, alumni and students for welcoming and hosting Challenged Athletes Foundation.
