Össur + CAF Bring Running and Mobility Clinic to Washington, DC

Get Active. Be Empowered.

On Sunday, November 9, 2025, the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) partnered with Össur to host a Running and Mobility Clinic at the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy. The morning brought together athletes, coaches, volunteers, and partners for a hands-on experience focused on movement, confidence, and community.

Designed to support athletes with physical disabilities at every stage of their journey, the clinic provided personalized instruction, technical coaching, and access to best-in-class prosthetic expertise. Together, CAF and Össur continue to create opportunities that empower athletes to move forward with purpose and possibility.

A Community Built on Partnership

The clinic was led by CAF and Össur staff, coaches, and ambassadors who share a commitment to expanding access to sport. Athletes rotated through small-group sessions focused on mobility, running mechanics, balance, and strength, with coaches tailoring instruction to meet each participant where they are.

CAF leadership welcomed athletes and volunteers, highlighting the impact of the long-standing partnership between CAF and Össur and the importance of community-driven support. From first-time runners to athletes returning to sport, the clinic emphasized that progress looks different for everyone and every step forward matters.

Highlighting What’s Possible

A meaningful moment of the morning came with the presentation of a new Össur Flex Run prosthesis to CAF grant recipient Kelly Jenkins of Bethesda, Maryland. Kelly shared his journey back to movement after years of pain and recovery, and her excitement about returning to exercise and cycling with renewed confidence.

Joined by his family, prosthetist, and the CAF and Össur community, the presentation reflected the heart of the partnership, providing not just equipment, but belief, support, and momentum to pursue what comes next.

Coaching, Movement, and Momentum

Throughout the morning, athletes participated in dynamic warm-ups, guided drills, and progressive running and mobility sessions led by experienced coaches and ambassadors, including Eric McElvenny. The clinic concluded with a group obstacle course that encouraged athletes to put new skills into action while celebrating effort, teamwork, and fun.

Laughter, encouragement, and shared victories filled the space, underscoring what makes CAF clinics special: athletes moving together, supported by a community that shows up.

Moving Forward Together

Clinics like this one are a powerful reminder that access to sport changes lives. Through the continued partnership between CAF and Össur, athletes across the country are gaining the tools, resources, and community they need to stay active, build confidence, and pursue their goals.

CAF is proud to continue expanding opportunities through clinics, grants, and programs that ensure athletes with physical disabilities have access to sport and recreation in Washington, DC, and beyond.
