Athletes with physical disabilities supported by the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) are preparing to represent Team USA in Milan at the 2026 Winter Paralympics. Their journeys reflect the power of access, opportunity, and community, and demonstrate what is possible when barriers to sport are removed.
Note: Team rosters for the 2026 Winter Paralympics are finalized closer to the Games. Some athletes listed below are already qualified, while others are actively competing in world championships and selection events as part of their journey to Milan. The athletes featured below reflect the diversity of experience and talent within the CAF community and beyond. Each individual brings a unique perspective to their sport, shaped by personal goals, training, and the support of family, coaches, and peers. Whether competing for the first time or returning as multi-medal veterans, these athletes demonstrate the value of participation and the importance of making winter sports accessible to all.
Josh Sweeney is a decorated Paralympian and CAF ambassador. After earning a gold medal in sled hockey at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games, Josh continued his athletic journey and competed in Para Nordic Skiing at the 2022 Winter Paralympics.
Now, Josh is focusing on biathlon and pursuing qualification for the 2026 Winter Paralympics. Supported by CAF, Josh’s story is a powerful example of resilience, reinvention, and the impact of community. Josh’s move from sled hockey to Para Nordic Skiing demonstrates the possibilities available when athletes have access to equipment, training, and community support.

Andrew Kurka
Andrew Kurka, a Paralympian from Palmer, Alaska, has earned gold and silver medals in previous Games. Andrew’s journey highlights determination and the importance of access to sport. Representing Team USA in para alpine skiing, Andrew Kurka is qualified for Milano Cortina 2026.
Laurie Stephens
Laurie Stephens has competed in five Paralympic Games, earning multiple medals. Her career demonstrates the impact of community and opportunity. Laurie continues to compete on the para alpine circuit, working toward Milano Cortina 2026.
Aaron Pike
Aaron Pike is a multi-sport athlete who has competed in both summer and winter Paralympics. Aaron is on the U.S. A Team and competing to qualify in para nordic skiing.
Oksana Masters
Oksana Masters is one of the most decorated athletes in Paralympic history, competing in Nordic skiing, biathlon, cycling, and rowing. Her achievements are powered by access and community. Oksana is currently on the U.S. A Team and racing toward qualification in para nordic skiing and biathlon.
Noah Elliott
Noah Elliott, a two-time Paralympian, has earned gold and bronze medals in snowboarding. He is qualified for Milano Cortina 2026.
Brenna Huckaby
Brenna Huckaby is a three-time gold medalist whose accomplishments inspire future athletes with physical disabilities. She’s currently training for Milano Cortina 2026.
Josh Pauls
Josh Pauls has competed in four Paralympic Games, earning four gold medals. His leadership and commitment reflect the values of CAF. Josh is competing toward the 2026 roster, which will be named closer to the Games.
Malik Jones
Malik Jones is a rising star in sled hockey whose journey demonstrates the impact of opportunity and encouragement. He is competing to qualify for Milano Cortina 2026.
Steve Emt
Steve Emt is a two-time Paralympian in wheelchair curling. CAF support has helped Steve compete at the highest level. He is qualified for wheelchair curling mixed doubles at Milano Cortina 2026.
Matt Thums
Matt Thums is a Paralympian whose dedication to wheelchair curling is paving the way for future athletes. He is named to Team USA’s wheelchair curling mixed team for 2026.
Jake Adicoff
Jake Adicoff has earned medals in biathlon and Nordic skiing. CAF support has been instrumental in his journey from local competitions to the world stage. He is on the A Team and competing to qualify for 2026.
