CAF-Idaho Adaptive Sport and Accessibility Symposium: Sessions & Speakers

Learn from leaders across adaptive sport, recreation, healthcare, and performance as they share practical strategies, innovative ideas, and real-world experiences. Breakout sessions are designed to encourage conversation, spark new ideas, and provide actionable takeaways you can bring back to your organization.

Keynote Speaker: Muffy Davis

Seven-time Paralympic medalist Muffy Davis will deliver the keynote address at the CAF-Idaho Adaptive Sport and Accessibility Symposium.

An accomplished alpine skier and handcyclist, Muffy represented Team USA at three Paralympic Games, earning four medals in alpine skiing and three gold medals in handcycling. Beyond sport, she has served as an Idaho state legislator and currently serves as a Blaine County Commissioner. She is also a founder of the Idaho Women’s Athletic Foundation, supporting and celebrating female athletes throughout the state.

Muffy brings a unique perspective shaped by elite sport, public service, advocacy, and a lifelong connection to Idaho.

Breakout Sessions

Coaching the Whole Athlete: Mental Performance in Adaptive Sport

Athletes perform at their best when mental skills are developed alongside physical ones. In this session, attendees will explore strategies for building confidence, managing pressure, fostering resilience, and supporting athletes through the mental aspects of training and competition.

Liz Robakiewicz, MS, CMPC
Founder, Momentum Mental Performance

Liz Robakiewicz is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) and founder of Momentum Mental Performance. She works with athletes, teams, and performers to strengthen confidence, resilience, and performance under pressure. Drawing on her background as a Division I soccer player and her master’s degree in Applied Sport Psychology, Liz helps athletes develop the mental skills needed to succeed in sport and beyond.

Paralympic Panel

Hear firsthand from Paralympic champions as they discuss their athletic journeys, overcoming challenges, and the role adaptive sport has played in shaping their lives. This panel will explore leadership, resilience, mentorship, and the importance of creating opportunities for future generations of athletes.

Moderator: Muffy Davis

Seven-time Paralympic medalist and Idaho community leader Muffy Davis will moderate the conversation, bringing her own experience as a Paralympic athlete to the discussion.

Rudy Garcia-Tolson

Five-time Paralympian and two-time Paralympic gold medalist Rudy Garcia-Tolson has competed internationally in swimming, triathlon, and para kayaking. A bilateral above-knee amputee, Rudy also became the first double above-knee amputee to complete an Ironman triathlon. Today, he continues to advocate for adaptive sport and works with the Challenged Athletes Foundation to help athletes with physical disabilities pursue active lifestyles through sport.

Josh Sweeney

Josh Sweeney is a Marine Corps veteran, two-time Paralympic gold medalist, and entrepreneur. After sustaining life-changing injuries while serving in Afghanistan, Josh went on to win Paralympic gold in sled hockey and Para Nordic skiing. Today, he shares his experiences to inspire resilience, leadership, and the power of sport to transform lives.

Table Topics

Connect with peers through a series of 20-minute facilitated discussions led by leaders in adaptive sport and accessibility. Each table will focus on a specific topic, creating an interactive space to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore challenges and opportunities across the field.

During the one-hour session, attendees will rotate between tables and have the opportunity to participate in three different conversations.
