Physical Challenge: Amputee
Sports: Running

JW was a triple sport all-star athlete in high school, a veteran of the US Army, a professional bull rider and a professional fisherman. After a long and complicated journey that began with a knee replacement, in 2016, JW became a lower limb amputee.

He met his wife, Katie, in a prosthetic clinic where they bonded over a shared love of running. His drive to work hard is how he thrived in hand-cycling races – winning the first marathon he competed in. With his grant, he looks forward to new challenges.
