Samantha Bodger

Challenge: Below Knee Amputation

Sports: Soccer, Sitting Volleyball, Crossfit, Yoga

Bio: Samantha “Sam” Bodger has always had a positive attitude, and a love of sports. She danced for 11 years and has played soccer for as long as she can remember.

When she was 16, Sam was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a cancer of the bone, in her tibia. She was given the decision to either try and save her leg, or to amputate in order to be able to stay active. She made the decision to amputate her leg below the knee, which she now calls the “best decision of her life.” Since her amputation, Sam has not only beat cancer, but has tried more sports than she ever would have, had she not lost her leg.

Upon returning to school for her senior year, Sam jumped at the opportunity to intern at CAF, to earn credits for school. Through her involvement in CAF, Sam has made invaluable friendships and connections that will last a lifetime. She is planning to attend UCLA in the fall of 2018, to major in Communications, as well as stay as active as possible.
