Bio: Raul was born in Mexico and attended San Diego St. University.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War to serve his adopted country.  Raul served as a medic and saved a number of lives earning him a Bronze Star for valor. Upon returning from Vietnam, Raul helped start the San Diego Running Club and became a Marathon runner.   In 2012, Raul’s leg was left paralyzed by a surgical mishap.  At that point, Raul was no longer able to run.  After living in pain for ten years and wanting to become active again, he elected to have his leg amputated. On 10 Jan 2017, Raul had surgery to amputate his right leg below the knee.  Raul has since started cycling and recently received his running foot.
