Biography:

Shawn is a U.S. Army veteran and lives in Camillus, NY. Upon leaving the Army after 8 years of honorable service, Shawn became a paramedic in Boston. In December 2010, while loading a patient into an ambulance, Shawn slipped on ice and suffered a head injury that ultimately led to the loss of her vision.

While rehabilitating at the Syracuse VA Medical Center, Shawn was encouraged to try running with a guide. After running for the first time since losing her sight, Shawn enjoyed the experience and started to become active again.

In 2012, Shawn was introduced to tandem cylcing and within a year was competing in cycling events. In 2013, Shawn contacted CAF Operation Rebound and received support to attend a cycling camp.
