2022 CCC ADAPTIVE SPORTS CLNICS

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21

USAT OPEN WATER SWIM CLINIC

10 AM – 12 PM

Due to safety protocols, the clinic is for individuals 14 years and up with experience swimming in open water.

Address: 1100 W. Mission Bay Dr., San Diego, CA 92109

  • Please arrive at the Bonita Cove Beach by 9:00 AM to check in at the CAF table
  • Parking is free in the lots north of the beach.
  • Look for the CAF canopy and check-in with CAF staff.

Registered participants will receive a free XTERRA wetsuit, swim cap, and goggles to wear during the clinic and take home with you. You are welcome to bring your own gear if you already have it.

Please arrive early so you can put on your wetsuit and be ready to enter the water at 10 am. The water temperature in Bonita Cove ranges from 66 – 70 degrees during this time of year, so a wetsuit is strongly encouraged.

Please bring a towel to dry off after the clinic.

Lunch will be provided after the clinic for registered participants and volunteers.

 

USABA BLIND SOCCER CLINIC

12 PM – 3 PM

Blind soccer is a contact sport that requires running on a grass surface and a moderate level of cardiovascular fitness. It is intended for individuals with visual impairments and all participants will wear eye shields, thus making them completely blind during play.

  • Please arrive at the grass field at by 11:45 AM to check in at the CAF /USABA table
  • Parking is free in the lots adjacent to the grass field.

Registered participants will receive a free CAF shirt to wear during the clinic. We ask that you please wear the CAF shirt given to you so we can identify who is participating, as well as for marketing purposes. We appreciate your cooperation with this

Make sure to wear comfortable, athletic clothes, and shoes. Please also don’t forget anything else you may need for a morning of active participation, like sunscreen, a hat, etc.

Lunch will be available before the clinic for registered participants and volunteers

 

WHEELCHAIR TENNIS & PICKLEBALL CLINIC

2 PM – 5 PM

Due to a large number of registrants, this clinic will be divided into 2 sessions of approximately 1.5 hours. If you registered for this clinic, you will receive an email with your check-in time and additional information.

Address: Bahia Tennis Courts (North side of the resort) 998 W Mission Bay Dr, San Diego, CA 92109

  • Please arrive at the tennis courts by 1:30 PM to check in at the CAF table
  • Parking is available at the Bahia Hotel along Gleeson Road and in the lot south of Ventura Cove and east of Gleeson Road.
  • The tennis courts are located on the northern part of the property between guest rooms. Signs will guide you to the courts.

Registered participants will receive a free CAF shirt to wear during the clinic. We ask that you please wear the CAF shirt given to you so we can identify who is participating, as well as for marketing purposes. We appreciate your cooperation with this.

Tennis racquets will be provided courtesy of the United States Tennis Association and you are welcome to bring your own if preferred.

We will have several sport chairs for use if needed but will not have enough for all participants. Please attend in your sport chair if able.  Daily use chairs can also be utilized during the clinic.

Make sure to wear comfortable, athletic clothes. Please also don’t forget anything else you may need for an afternoon of active participation, like sunscreen, a hat, a water bottle, etc.

Water and snacks will be provided during the clinic for registered participants and volunteers.

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22

ÖSSUR + CAF RUNNING AND MOBILITY CLINIC FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH
LOWER LIMB DIFFERENCE  

8:45 AM – 12 PM

  • Please arrive at the grass field at by 8:15 AM to check in at the CAF table
  • Parking is free in the lots adjacent to the grass field

Registered participants will receive a free CAF shirt to wear during the clinic. We ask that you please wear the CAF shirt given to you so we can identify who is participating, as well as for marketing purposes. We appreciate your cooperation with this

Make sure to wear comfortable, athletic clothes, and shoes, and bring you running prosthesis, if you have one! Please also don’t forget anything else you may need for a morning of active participation, like sunscreen, a hat, etc.

Lunch will be provided after the clinic for registered participants and volunteers

 

WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL CLINIC 

2 PM – 4 PM

We will have sport chairs available for use, but due to the high number of registrants if you have your own please bring it with you.

Location: Bahia Tennis Courts (North side of the resort) 998 W Mission Bay Dr, San Diego, CA 92109

  • Please arrive at the tennis courts by 1:45 PM to check in
  • Parking is available at the Bahia Hotel along Gleeson Road and in the lot south of Ventura Cove and east of Gleeson Road.
  • The tennis courts are located on the northern part of the property between guest rooms. Signs will guide you to the courts.

This will be a “skills and drills” clinic with a focus on passing, maneuvering, and ball handling led by Courtney Ryan and Josie Aslakson (Both played for Team USA in Tokyo).

Make sure to wear comfortable, athletic (CAF branded) clothes, and shoes. Please also don’t forget anything else you may need for an afternoon of active participation, like sunscreen, a hat, etc.

*Due to large numbers this clinic will be split into 3, 40-minute sessions. Please be on the lookout for further communication regarding your specific start time for this clinic

 

USABA GOALBALL CLINIC

4PM – 6PM

Location: Bahia Tennis Courts (North side of the resort) 998 W Mission Bay Dr, San Diego, CA 92109

  • Parking is available at the Bahia Hotel along Gleeson Road and in the lot south of Ventura Cove and east of Gleeson Road.

Registered participants will receive a free CAF shirt to wear during the clinic. We ask that you please wear the CAF shirt given to you so we can identify who is participating, as well as for marketing purposes. We appreciate your cooperation with this.

All necessary equipment will be provided by coaches from the US Association of Blind Athletes.

Make sure to wear comfortable, athletic clothes. Long pants are suggested, but not mandatory.  Please also don’t forget anything else you may need for an afternoon of active participation, like sunscreen, a hat, a water bottle, etc.

Water and snacks will be provided during the clinic for registered participants and volunteers.

 

IF YOU COMPLETED REGISTRATION FOR THE ADAPTIVE SURF CLINIC ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22, YOU WILL RECEIVE A SEPARATE COMMUNICATION ABOUT INFORMATION FOR YOUR SESSION TIME. PLEASE NOTE: THE ADAPTIVE SURF CLINIC IS COMPLETELY FULL. ONLY THOSE WHO RECEIVE CONFIRMATION OF THEIR SESSION TIME WILL BE ABLE TO SURF.
