High School Adaptive Sports Program Copy
Announcing our newest program to increase participation in high school sports for students with permanent physical challenges. Our first initiative is the ParaTrack & Field program in San Diego and San Francisco.
The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) has created opportunities for student athletes with disabilities to compete on their high school Track & Field and Swim teams. The goal of this program is to support these athletes with loaner equipment, coaching, training, and grant opportunities to excel as part of their high school team.
High School ParaTrack & Field Program
Equipment
CAF will provide loaner equipment in SD and SF to athletes registered in the program. Equipment will be used in CAF training sessions and can be used by athletes to compete as part of their school program. CAF coaches will train athletes and provide support to their HS coaching staff to teach the skills necessary to compete in adaptive Track & Field events.
Athletes
Athletes in the program will participate in a preseason training program to prepare for their 2020 CIF Track & Field Season. Athletes can earn points for their HS team and compete at the State Meet if they post a qualifying standard.
Grants
Athletes in the program can qualify for a grant opportunities. Grants will be awarded for track & field equipment and for travel opportunities to compete at local and national events.
