National Support Organizations:

National Disability Institute (NDI) 

National organization focused on the financial health and wellness of people with disabilities through policy work at the local, state, and federal levels.

US Department of Labor – Disability Resources

Federal agency that assists people with disabilities seek employment as well as advise employers on obligations related to affirmative action and non-discrimination in hiring.

Administration for Community Living (ACL)

National organization that promotes strategies that enable people with disabilities to live independently in their communities.

US Department of Health & Human Services (HHS)

Federal department that seeks to enhance and protect the health and well-being of all Americans by providing health and human services and fostering advances in medicine, public health, and social services.

American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD)

National disability rights organization that advocates for the full civil rights for over 60 million Americans with disabilities by promoting equal opportunity economic power, independent living, and political participation.

National Disability Rights Network (NDRN)

National non-profit membership for the federally mandated Protection and Advocacy Systems (P&A) and the Client Assistance Programs (CAP) for individuals with disabilities. These programs work to improve the lives of people with disabilities by guarding against abuse; advocating for basic rights; and ensuring access and accountability in health care, education, employment, housing, transportation, and voting.

Paralyzed Veterans Association (PVA)

National organization primarily supporting US Military veterans with spinal cord injuries. PVA advocates for quality health care, spinal cord research and education, veteran’s benefits, and civil rights for veterans and all people with disabilities.

United Spinal Association

National non-profit membership organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of all people living with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D), including veterans, and provide support and information to loved ones, care providers and professionals. They advocate for greater access to healthcare, mobility equipment, public transportation, rehabilitation, and community services.

World Institute on Disability (WID)

Global organization dedicated to the continual advancement of the rights an opportunities for people with disabilities by driving research and policy into action.
