Emma was born in Datong, Shanxi Provence, China. She was adopted at the age of two and had her amputation surgery a couple months later, as she was born with fibular hemimelia of her right leg. Since receiving her first prosthetic, there has been no stopping her. The training Emma receives and the competitions she participates in are preparing her to set and meet her goals in swimming, triathlons, and in life. Meyers has also competed at the U.S. Paralympics Para Swimming National Championships. Emma is a leader in the classroom as well, as she has served in leadership positions in school such as student council president. Emma’s dream is to compete at the 2024 Paralympics.
