2019 Swim Update for the San Diego Triathlon Challenge

To those participants registered for the SWIM portion of this weekend’s event, we have important updates.

Due to water quality issues at La Jolla Cove, the County of San Diego is requiring us to change the location of the SWIM portion only. Rather than canceling the SWIM portion all together, we have worked out a way to offer the SWIM on Saturday at La Jolla Shores.

The New  Plan:

We will be moving the swim to La Jolla Shores on Saturday October 19th – the beach directly in front of Kellogg Park. Swim waves will start between 12pm and 1:15pm and you’ll be contacted individually with your exact wave time.

For Challenged Athletes participating in the Adaptive Sports Clinics, there will be a shuttle to take you from the Jewish Community Center to La Jolla Shores with plenty of time to prepare for your SWIM WAVE.

New Schedule for Saturday, October 19

  • 11:00 AM- 1:15 PM – SWIM Event Registration
  • 12 PM – Official Kick – Off with the Singing of the National Anthem
  • 12:15 PM- WAVES Kick off in 15 minute intervals

You have options:

All swimmers are offered complementary registration for any other athletic event on Sunday, October 20th.  Events offered:

  • 10 Mile Run
  • 44 Mile Bike Ride
  • 5K Walk
  • 90 Minute Yoga
  • Tour De Cove Cyclethon – 90 minute segments at 9AM or 12PM (pending availability)

If you can no longer join us for the SWIM, we will offer to waive your registration deposit for 2020.

All swim registrants will be sent an email with your wave assignment.

The Aspen Medical Products San Diego Triathlon Challenge is still the #BestDayinTri. We have over 280 Challenged Athletes participating throughout the weekend. The official kick off will still be at 7AM on Sunday with the Opening Ceremony and Parade of Athletes at La Jolla Cove.Thank you for your understanding of this change in our plans.
